About Louise
Member of Parliament for Taupo
Louise was elected Member of Parliament for Taupo in 2008. The Taupo electorate includes Cambridge, Tirau, Putaruru, Tokoroa, Mangakino, Taupo, and Turangi. After the 2011 election Louise was named the National Junior Whip was promoted to Senior Whip in January 2013. She has previously been a member of the Maori Affairs Select Committee.
Career
Louise's former governance roles include the Waikato Community Broadcasters Charitable Trust, and she has been a Director of companies involved in property, tourism, project management and consulting.
Professional memberships include Business and Professional Women Cambridge and Taupo, Chambers of Commerce, and Her Business Network. Louise has also been a member of the Human Resources Institute of New Zealand, the New Zealand Business Excellence Foundation, the NZ Institute of Management, and the Project Management Institute.
Education
Louise's academic and professional qualifications include the Associate of the New Zealand Institute of Management (ANZIM), Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies (PGDipMgtSt), Master of Business Administration (MBA), and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Other
Louise lives in Karapiro, south of Cambridge, with her husband Craig and their three children, Hamish (13), Mac (9) and Jessica (7)
Louise enjoys participating in sporting events and has competed in the Round the Lake Relay several times, and the Cycle Challenge, and this year completed the 63.3 km challenge - 3 Taupo based half marathons in 3 months.
Louise is also a passionate supporter of organisations associated with cancer. She hosted the first event for New Zealand Gynaecological cancers in parliament and has for many years been a part of the Pink Ribbon team for Breast Cancer.
